Piscataway Senior Center Health Fair (2016)

Rutgers APhA-ASP held a successful health fair at Piscataway Senior Center on Thursday, Nov. 3rd.

Student pharmacists discuss heartburn (hint: it has nothing to do with your heart!)

All the committees had an opportunity to showcase their important health topics. Student pharmacists provided free blood glucose and blood pressure screenings as a part of Operation Heart and Operation Diabetes. Student pharmacists in Generation Rx, Operation Self Care, Operation Healthy Lungs, and OTC Medication Safety also came out to provide information on prescription drug abuse, self-care, smoking cessation, and the safe use of OTC medications.

Student pharmacists were able to communicate with local senior citizens and really engage with the Piscataway community. Outreach is especially important because Rutgers APhA strives to develop its members’ communication and interpersonal skills to educate the community.

Always be on the lookout for future health fairs and outreach events to get more involved with Rutgers APhA-ASP!
